Waterford June 24
By Rockie Graham
It is officially summer now and this morning it is longsleeve shirt chilly. The last few days it has been mid-August not. It is Maine. As I write this there is the sound of our tractor and an excavator in the background as we finish the groundwork around the house. We are not moved in yet, but are only using one room. It is the room that will be my study but for now is our bedroom. We still wait for the electricians and the plumber to finish their work. We have a shower working but no sinks. We still do dishes outside or in the bathtub. Hopefully by the time you read this the plumber will have finished his work.
I am looking for more curtains; ours seemed to have disappeared as has much of our belongings. Perhaps we will find it all when we get to unpack. In the meantime we need curtains and more curtain rods. I bought some the other day, but need more. I am thinking of getting material and making them. Of course that means either buying or borrowing a sewing machine as mine melted in the fire. All that was left were the metal pieces.
Wilton House yard sales are back on Saturday mornings. That is where I did buy some curtains. Breakfasts will begin again on Monday, July 4 and on Wednesdays after that.
Today, June 24, there is a chicken dinner and program to honor outgoing Senator Bruce Bryant. It is way off in Rumford at 5:30 at the Rumford Eagles Hall. For more information call 875-2116.
Coming soon, the Norway Arts Festival. The street will be closed for easier walking and there will be art and performances and even the Annual Poets on the Porch.
That will be all for this week. Have a great first week of summer.
